Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS) 2024

The Department for Education published the latest version of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS, 2024) in December 2023, and it came into effect on 4th January 2024.

There are few changes in EYFS 2024 that will affect the practice of out of school clubs, but the latest arrangements bring in two re-organised framework documents; one for group and school-based providers and another for childminders. Out of school providers will in the vast majority of cases rely on the EYFS for Group and School-Based Providers framework. Those who work from domestic premises (their own homes) should read and refer to the EYFS for Childminders.

The majority of the changes to requirements relate to those providers who deliver care for children who are not yet attending full time school. These changes relate predominantly to the qualifications and deployment of staff in order to afford providers more flexibility. Some changes are applicable to all providers, including those who operate before and after school, or during the holidays, for school aged children.
